Yorkshires Town Crier
The “Town Crier” has been a tradition of the United Kingdom for around 400 Years. Traditionally, the “Bell Man” would be used for announcing the important local and national government proclamations to the masses. It was used as a great way of getting across important messages as poor old average Joseph couldn’t read the local newspapers. Have you got something to shout about? Step forward to 2011 and you can still find a portly little fellow with a massive voice; named “Henry” making announcements to the masses in Sheffield, Doncaster and Sheffield.
